A Snapshot of Your Day

This is a new, dedicated Commercial Sales Manager (m/f/d) position created to provide specialized oversight for the Erfurt factory's generator business. The role addresses the need for focused commercial management due to an expanding product portfolio, including electric motors and maritime applications, and increasing complexity in external projects with international clients. To meet these business objectives, the role is structured around three core areas: comprehensive Commercial Offer and Bid Management for all projects, rigorous Sales Process and Financial Governance using tools like Salesforce and PATAC, and proactive Stakeholder and Risk Management to navigate complex international requirements and ensure seamless collaboration between technical and commercial teams. Given the focus on these areas, the ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert with extensive experience in commercial sales and contract management within an industrial manufacturing context. A proven ability to manage complex international projects, including financial calculations and risk mitigation, is essential for success in this role.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Lead the development and preparation of commercial offers for all internal and external generator, electric motor, and maritime application projects originating from the Erfurt factory.
  • Structure, draft, and negotiate complex sales contracts, amendments, and bid documents in collaboration with technical sales, legal, and business management teams.
  • Manage the end-to-end bid and proposal process, ensuring all submissions are competitive, compliant, and aligned with strategic business objectives.
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies and perform detailed cost calculations for all tenders and proposals.
  • Manage all commercial sales activities and pipeline information within Salesforce, ensuring data accuracy and generating regular sales reports.
  • Execute and oversee core commercial processes, including the Project Approval and Tender Approval Committee (PATAC) workflow, bond applications, and financial clearances.
  • Ensure the fulfillment of contractual financial obligations, coordinating with finance on topics such as invoicing and payment terms.
  • Continuously improve commercial sales processes to enhance efficiency and mitigate risks.
  • Serve as the primary commercial liaison for key external clients, managing complex requirements related to international tax issues, permanent establishment (PE) setup, and local installation services.
  • Collaborate closely with the technical sales team to ensure proposed solutions are commercially viable and to prevent execution problems on complex projects.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial, financial, and contractual risks throughout the entire sales cycle.
  • Coach and delegate work to lower-level professionals, acting as a subject matter expert for commercial sales processes.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in a senior commercial sales, contract management, or bid management role, preferably within the power generation or heavy industrial equipment sector.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large, complex international projects and navigating associated tax, legal, and logistical challenges.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and financial calculation tools is required.
  • German and English fluency.
