Position Overview

We are looking for a Head of Design (m/f/d) for a medium‐sized metalworking and processing company in Kempten. The role is a temporary placement with the option of a permanent position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a small, well‐coordinated design team of three staff members.
  • Produce detailed technical drawings in AutoCAD (2D) for complex plant engineering projects.
  • Oversee the professional execution of complex assembly work and develop clear, practical assembly instructions for the team.
  • Document all ongoing projects in accordance with applicable quality guidelines.
  • Support the timely procurement of materials and monitor overall production progress of orders.
  • Assist in precise project planning of incoming customer orders and optimise internal design processes over the long term.
  • Coordinate with customers regarding deadlines and technical matters, including occasional on‐site visits.

Qualifications

  • Degree in mechanical engineering or a comparable academic qualification with a specialization in design engineering.
  • Initial management experience in a similar role.
  • In‐depth knowledge of complex vessel and plant construction.
  • Proficient use of AutoCAD (2D) and familiarity with standard ERP systems and MS Office applications.
  • Native‐level command of written and spoken German and effective communication with customers.
  • High degree of assertiveness and strong organisational skills.
  • Decisive and goal‐oriented, with a high degree of independence.
  • Valid work permit and permanent residence in Germany.
