For our headquarters in Bensheim, we are currently seeking a full-time

Linux Administrator (m/f/d)

Data Center Operations · On-Premise · Full-Time
Why us?

We take a deliberately different approach to IT: Our entire infrastructure runs in our own data center—consistently following a zero-cloud strategy. For us, this isn’t a compromise—it’s a philosophy. Data sovereignty, full control over every service, and maximum independence from external providers are the cornerstones of modern IT for us. With us, you won’t be working with black boxes, but with an infrastructure that you fully understand and actively help shape.

We’re looking for an experienced professional to join our infrastructure team—someone who doesn’t just run Linux, but lives and breathes it.

Your responsibilities:

  • Operating and further developing our virtualized infrastructure on Proxmox VE—from resource planning to high availability
  • Designing, operating, and scaling our distributed storage system with Ceph for high-performance and fault-tolerant storage
  • Responsibility for the reliable operation of our data center (physical systems, network, backup)
  • Administration of our Zimbra mail server, including mailboxes, filters, anti-spam, and backup
  • Maintenance and further development of our Nextcloud platform for file sharing and collaboration
  • Configuration and security of our web servers (Apache, Nginx), including reverse proxy and TLS certificate management
  • Setup of a comprehensive monitoring and alerting system (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana, Icinga, Zabbix) for proactive operations
  • Administration of our directory services for centralized identity and access management (OpenLDAP, FreeIPA, or Samba AD)
  • Management and hardening of our Linux client systems—from automated rollout to support
  • Automation of recurring processes using Ansible, Bash, and Python—“Infrastructure as Code” is more than just a buzzword to you

Your Profile:

  • Extensive experience in administering Linux servers (e.g., Debian, Ubuntu, RHEL/Rocky/AlmaLinux)
  • Practical expertise in Proxmox VE and, ideally, Ceph or comparable distributed storage solutions
  • Experience with several of our core services (Zimbra, Nextcloud, web servers, monitoring, directory services)
  • Proficiency with networks, firewalls, DNS, certificates, and backup strategies
  • Experience with automation and configuration management (Ansible or similar)
  • An analytical, self-directed work style and the motivation to further develop a fully self-managed infrastructure
  • Good command of German; English for technical documentation

What we offer:

  • An independent, modern IT environment free of cloud dependencies—work on real technical substance
  • Responsibility and genuine creative freedom from day one
  • A well-coordinated team, flat hierarchies, and quick decision-making processes
  • Up-to-date hardware and a consistent focus on open-source technologies
  • A secure, future-oriented workplace with long-term prospects

Your Application:

Does this sound like your next challenge? Then we look forward to receiving your application, including your resume, your earliest possible start date, and your salary expectations.
