Senior Oracle Database Administrator

Location: Germany, with a preference for candidates based in Western Germany

Employment Type: Permanent

Travel: Significant travel to client sites across Germany, primarily in Western Germany. All reasonable business travel expenses will be covered.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Oracle Database Administrator to join an international technology team supporting large-scale enterprise environments.

You will be responsible for the development, optimisation and operation of a global Oracle database platform, working closely with development and infrastructure teams to ensure highly available, secure and high-performing database environments.

This is a hands-on senior position suited to someone with extensive Oracle DBA experience who is comfortable working directly with enterprise clients and travelling to client sites when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, operate and continuously improve a global Oracle database platform
  • Develop and optimise database automation and administration solutions
  • Perform root cause analysis and provide sustainable solutions to complex database issues
  • Support development teams with database-related and performance issues
  • Provide 3rd-level support for Oracle databases and Oracle Exadata environments
  • Design and optimise database models
  • Contribute to highly available and scalable database architectures
  • Monitor and optimise database performance
  • Support enterprise database migrations, upgrades and maintenance activities
  • Work closely with technical teams and clients to resolve complex database challenges

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Computer Science, IT or a comparable qualification
  • 10+ years of professional experience as an Oracle DBA, ideally within large enterprise environments
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Database, including 11g, 12c, 18c, 19c and 23ai
  • Strong experience with Oracle RAC, Clusterware, ASM and Data Guard
  • Expertise with Oracle Exadata and Exadata Cloud@Customer
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle database performance tuning
  • Experience with backup and recovery technologies including RMAN, Flashback and Data Pump
  • Good knowledge of PL/SQL, Python and Shell scripting
  • Experience with Ansible, Git and JIRA
  • Fluent German and English
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working with enterprise clients
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel regularly to client sites

This position offers flexibility around your home location within Germany, but regular travel to client sites is an important part of the role, particularly across Western Germany.
