The Position

  • Study of Fe-bearing materials at in-situ conditions relevant for planet formation, planetary evolution processes and impact events
  • Participate in R&D studies of X-ray scattering experiments exploiting high photon energies
  • Participate in developing dynamic compression experiments at the HED Scientific Instrument at European XFEL
  • Preparation of PhD thesis and participation in the PhD program of European XFEL

Requirements

  • University/Master's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Earth Sciences (Mineralogy/Geochemistry) or equivalent qualification
  • Strong interest in experimental work at a large scale facility
  • Eligible to enroll in the PhD program at the TU Dortmund
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in an international and multi-disciplinary team
  • Good knowledge of English
Considered an asset:
  • Experience with synchrotron radiation or FEL experiments
  • Hands-on experience in experimental set-up design/installation/commissioning
  • First experience with high-pressure experiments (diamond anvil cells or dynamic compression)
  • Basic programming skills using Python or similar programming tools
