PostDoc / Research Scientist (m/f/d) – Professorship of Developmental Psychology We offer: • Exciting research in developmental cognitive neuroscience, a highly dynamic, multidisciplinary, and rapidly developing field. • A three-year full-time position (40 h/week, part-time suitable) without teaching obligations and with considerable freedom to pursue your own research questions. • Collaborations on state-of-the-art assessment methods in infancy research: high-density EEG, fMRI, OPM-MEG, and VR. • Integration within an international and collaborative working environment, with support in building your own network. • The opportunity for further academic qualification and for collaborating on grant proposals. The group of Prof. Dr. Dr. Moritz Köster at the Institute of Psychology studies the neurocognitive foundations of early brain development. Within a project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the group investigates the functional role of rhythmic brain activity in early development, following the trajectory from integrating novel information and building visual object representations in infancy towards efficient processing in mature cortical networks. The project spans multiple age groups and relates EEG to fMRI data, including representational similarity analyses. Collaborations include Prof. Dr. Rhodri Cusack (Trinity College Dublin, infant awake fMRI) and Prof. Dr. Radoslaw M. Cichy (Freie Universität Berlin, EEG/fMRI fusion). Work on analyses can start immediately based on existing datasets, with ample room to incorporate your own ideas and research questions. Tasks & Responsibilities • Analysis of EEG and fMRI datasets on the development of visual representations and the rhythmic processes underlying them, across infants, children, and adults. • Supervision of data assessments. • Publishing articles in international peer-reviewed journals and presenting at conferences. • Opportunity to co-supervise PhD students. • Opportunity to contribute to grant proposals and develop your own research questions. Qualifications • Excellent PhD in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, biology, or a related discipline (completed or submitted). • Very good analytic and programming skills (MATLAB, Python). • Experience with M/EEG and/or fMRI analysis, ideally including time-frequency analyses, multivariate methods, and computational modelling. • Publications in (developmental) cognitive neuroscience. • Theoretical interest in cognitive neuroscience and/or developmental psychology. • Excellent command of written and spoken English; German is welcome but not required. • High capacity to work independently and responsibly.
