The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is seeking a dynamic, seasoned leader to serve as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the Office of Nuclear Energy (NE). This critical Senior Executive Service (SES) role is your opportunity to direct the Federal operations, strategic planning, and policy implementation that drive the nation's nuclear energy future. The primary duties in this pivotal role will include:
- Executive Operations and Administration: Direct the full range of NE Headquarters Federal operations, including policy implementation, strategic planning, budget formulation, human resources, and information technology to support the mission of the Assistant Secretary.
- Strategic Policy and Advocacy: Provide an executive perspective on domestic and international nuclear policy, representing DOE leadership in high- level discussions with Congress, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, industry leaders, and foreign governments.
- Energy Sector Security and Resilience: Lead Department‐wide efforts to strengthen the security and resilience of the energy sector against emerging threats, enhancing response, recovery, and shared situational awareness.
- Program Management and Oversight: Act as the primary Headquarters point of contact for Management and Operating (M&O) contractor performance assessments, fee determinations, and Price & Anderson Enforcement actions to ensure operational efficiency.
- Organizational Leadership and Integration: Provide technical and administrative supervision over subordinate organizations, direct the recruitment of senior managers and technical experts, and align critical programmatic functions with the agency's overall strategic goals.
