The Position
The Vice President of Mechanical Engineering is a strategic leader responsible for the full lifecycle of the company’s mechanical infrastructure. This role bridges the gap between innovative design and client success, establishing agile standards that evolve with the data center market. You will provide executive‐level technical oversight from initial development through construction and long‐term operations, ensuring all facilities are cost‐effective, energy‐efficient, and highly resilient.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Advocacy & Strategy: Serve as the primary technical partner for clients, translating complex business requirements into scalable, resilient mechanical solutions.
- Design & Project Execution: Ensure all project designs are completed on schedule and within budget. Provide high‐level engineering expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems within existing facilities.
- Evolving Standards: Develop and maintain a global “Basis of Design” (BOD) that is modular and adaptable. Contribute to new BOD documents to address emerging business needs and shifting market trends.
- Innovation & Efficiency: Identify and recommend technologies—such as advanced heat rejection and direct‐to‐chip liquid cooling—that improve energy, water and cost efficiency across the portfolio.
- OFCI Program Management: Develop and maintain equipment specifications for Owner Furnished Contractor Installed (OFCI) systems. Support procurement through vendor submittal reviews, approvals, and factory witness testing (FWT).
- Standardization: Support the communication and implementation of engineering standards, design practices, and operational requirements to ensure absolute consistency across all global projects.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and mentor a high‐performing engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and providing technical growth pathways for staff.
- Technical Intelligence: Stay current with emerging technologies, global building codes, and industry trends to keep the company at the forefront of the mission‐critical sector.

- Travel: Some domestic travel required, estimated 25‐33%

Required Skills & Experience
- Experience: 15+ years of progressive leadership in mission‐critical environments, specifically in the design and specification of HVAC for data centers.
- Education & Licensure: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering; Professional Engineer (PE) registration is preferred.
- Technical Depth: Deep knowledge of IT cooling technologies (both air and direct‐to‐chip liquid), mechanical cooling system controls, plumbing, and fire protection.
- Software Proficiency: Expertise in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint). Baseline proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Adobe Acrobat, Pipeflow, Cadence Design Systems.
- Executive Presence: Exceptional communication skills with a proven track record of supporting projects from development through operations.
Compensation Range
$259,600.00 - $287,600.00
