Job Description

This role leads professional engagement for designated franchise(s) within Takeda’s Foundational Therapeutics Platform business unit. The individual partners with brand lead and cross‐functional teams to develop and execute marketing plans and achieve key business objectives on time and within budget, helping Takeda better serve patients.

The responsibilities include developing and implementing professional engagement strategies and execution within the therapeutic area, identifying and engaging key opinion leaders (KOLs) and community treaters, planning and executing advisory board or consulting engagements, creating peer‐to‐peer content, and managing speaker programs and training while overseeing P2P education initiatives. The role also collaborates with marketing, training, and cross‐functional field counterparts to identify educational gaps and recommend content and engagement needed to support franchise priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the annual professional engagement plan, including thought‐leader identification, development, and engagement in partnership with the franchise cross‐functional team.
  • Partner with brand/providermarketing lead to develop peer‐to‐peer content ensuring alignment with brand messaging and franchise strategy.
  • Identify market trends and stakeholder insights on disease state and brand to inform strategic choices and investment planning.
  • Gain concept approval, recruit, develop content/discussion guides, and execute advisory boards and consultant meetings to generate insights that inform brand strategies and tactics.
  • Provide speaker bureau program recommendation for the franchise and, if applicable, manage the bureau in adherence to all policies.
  • Manage and execute symposia or product theatres at regional and national congresses.
  • Manage KOL engagement platform to track engagements, organize insights, and ensure members of Takeda present as one company with enterprise alignment when meeting with customers.
  • Manage budget and measure performance of programs/tactics, reporting back to franchise on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide annual budget forecast recommendation for initiatives led; open POs and track spend against forecast; perform monthly accruals and invoicing, and update forecast as appropriate for financial planning cycles.
  • Track initiatives against annual plan commitments and define and measure KPIs to shape strategic direction and optimize spend.
  • Consult with legal, regulatory, and ethics & compliance to ensure all activities are compliant with policies and regulations. As a project owner of promotional tactics, work within the internal review process to seek approvals for marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Manage external agencies and consultants/contractors, holding them accountable to agreed standards and contract expectations.
  • Serve as back‐up for team members and direct manager when requested.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with a focus in Biology, Marketing, Strategy, and/or Business Administration preferred; advanced degree (MBA, MA/MS, PharmD, etc.) highly preferred.
  • 7 years of progressively responsible marketing, pharmaceutical sales, or healthcare system/provider experience, or related experience within the biopharmaceutical industry required.
  • Experience developing engagement plans for thought leaders / KOL management and ability to consult with these customers.
  • Experience in developing speaker bureau strategy, training, content development, and speaker programs as well as regional/national symposia execution.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to set direction, generate commitment, identify and resolve issues, and evaluate risk.
  • Organizational skills used for planning months in advance and ability to pivot to meet customer and business needs while proactively capturing and measuring/reporting on execution of activities.
  • Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform in a fast‐paced environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously – showing strong acumen for prioritization and time management.
  • Analytical, problem‐solving, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Financial management and budgeting capabilities.
  • Requires approximately 25–40% travel; travel to Cambridge, MA office at least once every 2 months; willingness to travel to internal and external meetings and conferences, including overnight stays and occasional weekend or international travel.

Benefits & Compensation

Location: USA – MA – Virtual
U.S. Base Salary Range: $137,000.00 – $215,270.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
