Berlin / Remote (EU) Full-time Engineering · Leadership · Architecture
About the role
As CTO you take technical leadership of Caelex and shape the future of space‐compliance software. You will own the architecture, evolve the platform from a powerful first‐mover product into a scalable enterprise solution, and build the engineering team that gets us there. The EU Space Act comes into force in 2030 and reaches every satellite operator, launch provider, and space‐data company in the Union. Caelex is the dedicated solution to that mandate — and you have the rare chance to set the technical DNA of a category‐defining product from the ground up, with founding‐level equity and real ownership of the roadmap.
What you’ll do
- Own architecture and technical decision‐making across the Caelex platform
- Scale the existing codebase for enterprise customers and high availability
- Hire, mentor, and lead the engineering team as we grow
- Drive enterprise capabilities: SSO, multi‐tenancy, a public API, and the integration marketplace
- Establish security and compliance posture (SOC 2, ISO 27001) end to end
- Partner with the CEO on product strategy and the technical roadmap
What you bring
- 5+ years building production software, including senior or lead ownership
- Deep command of a modern stack: TypeScript, React, Next.js, PostgreSQL
- Track record architecting and scaling B2B SaaS
- Fluency in security and compliance best practices
- Hands‐on builder — you still ship code and set the bar by example
- Comfortable as the first engineering leader in an early‐stage company
- Fluent in English (German is a plus)
Nice to have
- Experience in RegTech, compliance, or audit software
- Familiarity with the European space industry
- Experience with Vercel, Neon, and Prisma
- Background in cybersecurity
- Prior founding or 0→1 experience
- Experience building and leading distributed teams
What we offer
Founding equity — A meaningful stake in what we build
First mover — The dedicated EU Space Act platform
Flexibility — Remote‐first, outcome‐oriented
