Chief Technology Officer

Overview

We're looking for a technical co-founder to build Sumtag with us from the ground up, we are currently in seedling stage.

This isn't just another startup engineering role.

You'll shape the technology behind a platform designed to become the everyday operating system for millions of people.

We have already build it up and can not wait for you to shape it and make it grow!

You'll join before fundraising, meaning you'll have genuine influence over the company's future, product direction and culture.

Responsibilities

Responsible for leading Sumtag’s overall technology vision, strategy, and execution. The CTO will oversee software engineering, platform architecture, and product technology decisions to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performing marketplace solutions. Day-to-day tasks include guiding development teams, prioritizing technical initiatives, aligning technology roadmaps with business goals, and collaborating closely with product, operations, and leadership teams. The CTO will manage technology budgets, vendor relationships, and risk, while establishing best practices for software development, data security, and infrastructure reliability. This role also involves mentoring technical leaders, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability, and continually assessing emerging technologies that can enhance Sumtag’s services.

Our mission

Germany is one of the wealthiest countries in Europe, yet everyday life has become increasingly difficult. Finding trusted help for simple task from grocery delivery and elderly support to home or the beauty and wellness serve directly to home safely and freelance assistance often means searching across multiple platforms, waiting days for responses, simply giving up, just get the job done without anything else, high costs or even scams and much more. At the same time, thousands of skilled freelancers and local service providers struggle to find consistent customers.

Sumtag is building Germany's next generation everyday services platform combining AI, local service providers, wellness, home assistance, transport, on-demand services and delivery and bureaucracy related into one trusted ecosystem.

Our first focus is Berlin before expanding nationally.

Qualifications

• Strong background in Software Development and Product Development, with experience building and scaling digital platforms or marketplaces.
• Proficiency in IT Strategy and Architecture, including designing robust, secure, and scalable system architectures.
• Demonstrated capability in Project Management, leading cross-functional teams and delivering complex technology initiatives on time and within budget.
• Experience in cloud infrastructure, APIs, integrations, and modern development practices (e.g., Agile, DevOps, CI/CD) is highly beneficial.
• Proven leadership experience in a senior technology role, ideally in a startup or high-growth environment.
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical topics into business context.
• Comfort working on-site in Berlin and collaborating closely with local and distributed teams.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. But we are so open for the talented ones, that might still young and have fire in yourself, even though you still studying, just graduated, or hold smaller diploma, just reach out to us!
