About The Nutriment Company
At The Nutriment Company we are entrepreneurs, visionaries and doers. We operate in one of the fastest growing segments of FMCG right now - pet food - and we are proud to be Europe's leading company within the natural, raw/frozen premium segment. Our headquarters are in Stockholm and Düsseldorf, and we currently have 850+ employees spread across Europe. We generate 250+ million EUR turnover with strong profitability, and we are owned by the Nordic private equity company Axcel.
At The Nutriment Company, we have a highly motivated, ambitious, and fun team that aspires to take our company to the next level, as we expand at a high pace both through organic growth and acquisitions across Europe.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Head of Supply Chain & Planning to build and lead supply chain planning for our Western Europe business, today with its core operational footprint in DACH and BENELUX.
This is a newly created leadership role, giving you the mandate to build proper demand & supply planning and clean out-of-stock (OOS) and inventory management from the ground up, while staying close to day-to-day operations. The role is deliberately split roughly 50/50 between strategic planning and hands-on operational execution.
You will report to the COO and work closely with commercial, finance and warehouse operations. You'll also play a central role in planning ahead for capacity and growth, as we continue integrating newly acquired brands (we've made several acquisitions across Europe in the past two years) into a single planning process.
Strategic Planning & S&OP (~50% of the role)
- Build and run a proper Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process for Western Europe, including a rolling demand & supply plan, replacing today's short-term, reactive approach
- Own inventory and out-of-stock (OOS) management end-to-end: establish clear ownership and escalation paths for raw material shortages and OOS situations, and for reconciling differences between physical and system stock — both currently unclear
- Develop demand forecasts across our brands, factoring in sales data, seasonality (e.g. seasonal items) and market trends
- Plan warehouse and frozen storage capacity ahead of need, particularly around seasonal peaks and future network growth
- Build a repeatable process for integrating newly acquired brands and their supply chains into planning and systems
- Monitor and report supply chain KPIs (service level, stock cover, OOS rate) to senior leadership, with clear corrective actions
Operational Execution (~50% of the role)
- Oversee day-to-day disposition and ordering for all articles stored in Crailsheim, working closely with your Supply Chain Controller
- Maintain ongoing oversight of stock cover and inventory levels, and act as the escalation point when your team needs support
- Own the relationship and day-to-day communication with suppliers and internal warehouse interfaces — proactively requesting and tracking delivery quantities, timing and shortfalls, rather than chasing this information after the fact
- Ensure goods receipt and goods issue are booked accurately and on time in our systems
- Handle supplier-side complaints (quality, quantity, timing) — not end-customer complaints
- Coordinate the operational rollout of assortment changes decided by Sales/Category Management (adjusting order quantities, briefing suppliers)
Cost & Data Transparency
- Maintain visibility on supply-side costs and cost models for materials and resale products, and flag margin risks or opportunities to Finance and Category Management
- Partner with Finance to ensure accurate cost-of-goods data for budgeting, forecasting and pricing decisions
- Report on supply chain KPIs, highlighting variances and corrective actions
Note: commercial price negotiations and supplier terms remain owned by Category Management/Procurement. This role is expected to inform that process with data and analysis, not to run negotiations directly.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and develop your Supply Chain Controller, setting clear objectives, and grow the team further as the department matures
- Act as the primary point of contact for supply chain planning and product availability topics within Western Europe, within the clearly defined boundaries below
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Finance and Warehouse Operations to ensure supply plans reflect business priorities
- Present supply chain performance, risk and OOS updates to senior leadership
What is explicitly not part of this role
- Price negotiations and supplier terms/conditions (owned by Category Management/Procurement)
- Assortment decisions — new listings or delistings (owned by Sales/Category Management; this role executes the resulting order changes)
- End-customer complaint handling
Skills & Experience Essential
- Proven experience in supply chain planning or operations management, ideally in food, frozen/cold-chain, or FMCG distribution
- Strong demand forecasting and S&OP experience, including building a planning process from scratch
- Comfortable operating at both strategic and hands-on operational level — this is not a purely strategic role
- Excellent analytical skills with high proficiency in Excel
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to bring clarity to ambiguous, cross-functional situations
- Experience managing and developing a team
Desirable
- Experience in raw/frozen pet food, meat, or other cold-chain/perishable categories
- Experience integrating acquired businesses or brands into existing supply chain processes (relevant given our ongoing M&A-driven growth)
- CIPS qualification (or working towards)
What you can expect
- The opportunity to build a supply chain function from the ground up in a fast-growing, PE-backed company
- Competitive salary
- 30 days annual leave + bank holidays
