HSE Manager – Hydrogen / Electrolysis / Industrial Projects / Construction Safety / Plant Engineering / HSE / Risk Management / Site Safety / Energy Transition / Clean Energy / Petrochemicals
Interested in taking ownership of Health Safety, and Environment across some of Europe’s most ambitious industrial hydrogen projects?
- As an HSE Manager / Leader, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safe delivery of large-scale electrolyzer projects.
- You'll work across project planning, construction, commissioning and external customer sites, while helping establish the standards and processes that keep complex industrial projects safe.
- In terms of the team - you'll enjoy a senior role with one of the global-market leaders in the Hydrogen / Clean Energy space, now scaling industrial electrolysis to gigawatt-level production.
What’s on offer?
- Real project impact: You’ll be embedded in the delivery of industrial hydrogen projects, with responsibility for HSE from early planning through to execution and site acceptance.
- Work at the forefront of industrial hydrogen: The business has commissioned projects across Europe and is now scaling next-generation electrolyzers, including systems designed for large-scale, triple-digit MW projects.
- Ownership: You won’t be limited to checking compliance, you’ll actively shape HSE plans, site setup, contractor processes, risk assessments and safety standards across projects.
- International exposure: Work with project teams, customers, partners and contractors across multiple European sites, supported by a broad engineering organisation.
- Purpose: Your work directly contributes to deploying the infrastructure needed to replace fossil fuels in energy-intensive industries.
The Role
- You’ll take ownership of HSE coordination across external production and customer sites, ensuring safety is embedded throughout project planning and execution.
- This includes developing HSE and site plans, conducting inspections and machine approvals, coordinating contractors and permit processes, and identifying and mitigating risks across construction and plant engineering activities.
- You’ll work closely with project managers, site supervisors, customers and the wider HSE function, while also driving contractor management, accident analysis, documentation and training. The role combines hands-on site presence with the opportunity to improve HSE processes across a growing project organisation.
Ideally, you’ll have a combination of:
- Qualification as a Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit (SiFa) under §7 ASiG, with an engineering, technician or master craftsman background
- Experience in HSE / construction supervision, ideally within mechanical or plant engineering, industrial projects, petrochemicals, Oil & Gas, or wider clean energy infrastructure
- SiGeKo qualification or strong experience coordinating with SiGeKos (Bonus)
Locations / Travel:
With this role focused on the execution stages of each project, you'll likely travel approximately 50–75% of the time around Germany.
This won't be for longer than 3-4 days at a time, and you'll always home be home by the weekend.
Home office: Outside of this, the senior leadership will be happy for you to work from home, anywhere in the country.
