Senior Compute Platform Engineer – Berlin, Germany
As a Senior Compute Platform Engineer on the Data Platform team, you will build and run the data infrastructure that powers Zeta’s platform, including the lakehouse platform.
Responsibilities
- Operate and implement new features in the framework and services managed by the team.
- Engage with data scientists and identify ways to improve their experience and productivity.
- Identify and implement computational improvements.
- Fix bugs by submitting patches to open-source projects such as Spark, Iceberg, Hadoop, Airflow, and others.
- Act as an expert on Spark and Scala.
- Mentor engineers (pairing, design discussions, knowledge sharing) and raise quality, reliability standards across the team.
Qualifications
- Minimum seven years of software engineering experience.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Math, or a related field.
- Two or more years of experience and proficiency in Scala or other JVM‐based languages.
- Experience with Spark and/or other large‐scale data‐processing frameworks.
- Kubernetes experience is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, Athena, etc.) is beneficial.
- Interest in back‐end technologies, architecture, and passion for learning.
- Interest in math, statistics, or adtech technology is a plus.
- Analytical approach to problems and pragmatic solutions.
- Ability to work independently and enterprising in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Salary Range
€120,000 - €130,000, depending on location and experience.
