Overview

We’re a new team building AI‐assisted tools to make Datadog developers more effective by autonomously generating tests, fixing bugs, and improving performance. We’re looking for a product‐mindful generalist to help us quickly define and ship products that make all Datadog customers 10x developers. Responsibilities

  • Work closely with users, designers, PMs, and data scientists on cutting‐edge, delightful LLM‐based agents.
  • Develop prompts, evaluations, and agent tools for working with code, and productionize these systems in Datadog products.
  • Prototype, iterate, and ship solutions based on real‐world feedback.
  • Follow the latest research on LLM prompting, agents, and code editing.
  • Collaborate with other Datadog teams to expand capabilities, such as integrating with Datadog IDE extensions for a Copilot‐like assistant or Dynamic Instrumentation for more runtime data.

Qualifications

  • Backend engineer with at least 5 years professional experience (Go, Java, Python) who values code simplicity and performance.
  • Shipped production software that uses LLMs.
  • Passion for Generative AI and its potential to increase software engineer productivity.
  • Experience with large‐scale systems, large‐scale data sets, machine learning, or adjacent fields.
  • Community ambassador who can drive technical conversations toward pragmatic solutions.
  • Goal‐oriented in fast, high‐growth startup environments that respect engineers and customers.
  • Experience writing developer tools such as IDEs, static code analysis tools, or compilers.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI coding tools day‐to‐day, validate, critique, and refine AI‐generated output.
  • Motivated to push AI boundaries to improve software engineering best practices and build AI‐enabled products.

Compensation

  • Competitive salary and equity package, possibly including variable compensation.
  • Compensation based on candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
  • Estimated yearly salary: $187,000 — $240,000 USD.
