Senior Software Engineer, Presence

Join the Reddit Pro or Youth Experience team as a Senior Backend Engineer. You’ll help shape technical and product strategy for new product spaces that empower high‐value professionals and young users.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate cross‐functionally with product, design, and engineering to execute product and business strategy and build novel products and features.
• Contribute through the full development cycle: technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch. Review code, design docs, and provide feedback on product specs.
• Work on a fast‐moving team, mentor colleagues, and help improve developer workflows and best practices.
• Participate in strategic planning and decisions for backend development.
• Build brand‐new products rapidly while balancing speed, quality, and reliability.

Who You Might Be

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of industry experience in large‐scale distributed systems.
• 5+ years of professional software development in languages such as Go, Python, Ruby, Java, or C++.
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, Thrift, and designing maintainable APIs.
• Experience with distributed caching and large‐scale data storage systems like Cassandra.
• Track record of developing highly scalable, reliable serving systems.
• Experience leading projects requiring cross‐team collaboration.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Entrepreneurial spirit, self‐directed, innovative, and action‐oriented in fast‐paced environments.
• Excellent communication skills—can discuss technical and non‐technical topics with remote teams.

Pay Transparency

This role’s base salary range is $190,000—$267,000 USD, with eligibility for equity and potentially commission depending on the level. Full salary details are available on our careers page.
