Position Overview:

This vacancy welcomes specialists based in Germany and the Netherlands. Whether you prefer working on-site at our offices in Tutzing or Amsterdam, or remotely from anywhere within these countries, we are happy to accommodate your working style. You will be required to come to the headquarter in Tutzing, Germany at least once a quarter.

As we continue to scale and consolidate our Data Platform, we are seeking an experienced (Senior) Engineering Manager (m/f/x) to join our Product & Engineering organisation.

You’ll get to take ownership of:

  • Leading multiple engineering workstreams across platform stability, modernisation, governance, and strategic initiatives.
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of 10–15 engineers, including senior and highly experienced engineers.
  • Coaching and mentoring Engineering Managers and senior engineers, developing leadership capability and creating a strong talent pipeline.
  • Driving cultural and organisational transformation, evolving engineering practices, ways of working, and team effectiveness.
  • Partnering with Product Management and senior leadership to align engineering strategy and investment with customer and business value.
  • Providing technical direction across the stack, with sufficient depth to challenge architectural decisions without becoming involved in day-to-day implementation.
  • Championing AI-augmented engineering to improve productivity, automation, and engineering quality.

We’d love to meet someone with:

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in engineering leadership.
  • Experience leading 10–15+ engineers across multiple workstreams and ideally mentoring or managing other engineering leaders.
  • A proven track record of leading engineering or organisational transformations.
  • Strong technical depth, ideally with a Java/backend background, and experience with distributed systems, networking, integration, and architecture.
  • Sufficient frontend understanding, ideally TypeScript/Angular, to lead effectively across the full stack.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across Engineering, Product, Architecture, and senior leadership.
  • A genuine interest in AI-augmented engineering and a willingness to help teams adopt AI effectively.
  • Fluent English; German is a plus.
