Specialty Area 35, Microsoft Server, handles multifaceted tasks in the Microsoft Windows environment. The scope of work includes operating systems of all kinds, ranging from simple systems to cluster systems and complex, high-availability server farms. In total, approximately 2,100 systems are currently managed, of which around 1,900 are virtual (and this number is rising sharply).
The team in Sub-Department 35c is responsible for the design, configuration, operation, and support of DHCP, file, and print services. The primary focus of the position holders’ work is third-level support in the areas of print and file services and DHCP.
Your Responsibilities
- You will work in third-level support, handle problem tickets, and assist with the technical development of file and print services and the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) service.
- You will develop hardware releases, including printer driver releases, conduct evaluations of these releases, and evaluate printer-specific software (all-in-one devices, multifunction devices, etc.) in the test center.
- You will also evaluate new technology to be implemented in the test center.
- You will provide technical advice to customers.
- You will reorganize existing storage systems for new customers in accordance with security concepts, using internal pre-built solutions (e.g., object storage, FAS storage solutions, etc.).
- You will contribute to the automation of operational processes and provide technical support for Europe-wide tenders on behalf of the State of Lower Saxony.
- You will create and maintain the necessary concepts and operational documentation.
Your Profile
- You hold a college degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) in computer science or another IT-related field or
- You have at least four years of professional experience in IT.
- To perform this role, practical experience in various operational environments involving MS Windows Server environments and other central application systems, including the associated management tools for monitoring and administration, as well as in the areas of file and print services and DHCP.
In addition, the following skills are desirable:
- Several years of experience in customer consulting
- Expertise and experience with the PowerShell command-line tool
- Experience in networking, particularly with service-related protocols
