Intern in the International Tax Compact (ITC) Secretariat within the Sector Programme Sustainable Development Finance

The International Tax Compact (ITC) is a neutral platform that enhances domestic revenue mobilisation (DRM) in partner countries and promotes fair, efficient, and transparent tax systems. The ITC Secretariat, part of the GIZ Sector Programme Sustainable Development Finance, manages day‐to‐day activities, supporting the Addis Tax Initiative (ATI) and the Network of Tax Organisations (NTO). Ihre Aufgaben
- Implementing and further developing the Addis Tax Initiative (ATI), notably by facilitating cooperation and exchange within the ATI Steering Committee and ATI Consultative Groups.
- Supporting the activities of the Network of Tax Organisations (NTO).
- Organising, implementing, and following up on ATI internal events and other virtual or hybrid international events on DRM and sustainable development finance topics (e.g., workshops, webinars, presentations, side events at international conferences, general assemblies).
- Assisting in the conceptual preparation of studies and peer‐learning activities, conducting research, and drafting briefs, factsheets, and related documents.
- Collecting and managing data for external communication and monitoring purposes, particularly in the context of ATI, including analysis of quantitative data related to Official Development Assistance (ODA) trends.
- Supporting external communication by drafting website articles and other communication materials for the ITC, ATI, and NTO, and creating content for social media.
- Conducting research on relevant developments, events, and publications in the field of taxation and development and maintaining the DRM Calendar.
- Monitoring current debates and global developments in good financial governance, public finance, and sustainable development finance, with a focus on tax policy and tax administration.
- Supporting knowledge management, network management, and information exchange within the team and with external stakeholders.
- Supporting day‐to‐day administrative work within the ITC Secretariat and the Sector Programme.
Ihr Profil
- University degree (equivalent to a bachelor’s degree or higher) in economics, political science, public administration, law, regional studies, or other relevant disciplines.
- Basic knowledge and strong interest in policymaking, governance, tax policy, administration, and international development cooperation.
- Ability to work in an organised, structured, independent, detail‐oriented, and results‐driven manner, under time pressure, and to quickly familiarise yourself with complex issues.
- Strong written and spoken English skills; knowledge of French, Spanish, and/or German is an advantage.
- Very good knowledge of the common MS Office programmes (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and strong drafting and communication skills.
- Experience in data analysis (e.g., independent use of R and Python) is an advantage.
- Experience in external communication and/or network management is an advantage.
- Experience in the administration and maintenance of websites is an advantage.
