Head of Media Production and Software Planning (m/f/d)

Your role as Head of Media Production and Software Planning (m/f/d):
  • Supervising a team of approximately 20 employees
  • Guidance and technical support for employees in the implementation of projects
  • Merging the planning departments for media production and custom software to establish and develop a joint department
  • Responsibility for medium- and long-term technological strategy development in collaboration with senior management and investors, including supporting the investor divisions in investment planning
  • Management and oversight of project implementation, including EU procurement procedures
  • Budget planning and accountability
  • Collaborating with service providers as partners, including managing them at the executive level
  • Representing MDR in ARD working groups
Your professional and personal profile:

  • A college degree in media informatics, media technology, computer science, or a comparable field
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience or knowledge and skills acquired through at least 4 years of comparable professional experience in the broadcast/software sector
  • Technical background in IT with a focus on software development projects and/or in the broadcast sector with a focus on planning or operations

Ideally, you’ll also have the following qualifications and qualities:

  • Technical and managerial leadership experience
  • Experience in project management, project steering, and project controlling using both the waterfall model and agile methodologies
  • Experience with large-scale software and/or broadcast projects
  • Practical IT and technology background, technical aptitude, and interest in new developments
  • Interest in strategic planning and technology development
  • Experience in establishing, developing, and leading agile, cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work well in a team, empathy, and strong communication skills at all levels of the organization and when interacting with partners and service providers
  • Organizational and coordination skills in the complex MDR environment
  • Proficiency in German for comprehensive internal and external communication, as well as strong written and spoken English skills
