Responsibilities
- Establish SAP enterprise architecture principles and guardrails with reference architectures for S/4HANA, BW/4HANA and ensure alignment with agency strategies and enterprise platforms (Salesforce, ServiceNow, SharePoint/O365). Focus on standards and approvals—not day‐to‐day management.
- Own the portfolio‐level S/4HANA strategy and modernization roadmap across a large scale federal program, sequencing Explore/Realize activities and mapping cross‐program dependencies; publish quarterly roadmap updates.
- Chair the program Architecture Review Board (ARB) and approve patterns, interface contracts, data standards, and security controls; maintain the decision log; ensure compliance with FISMA/NIST and agency policies.
- Set the integration strategy spanning ERP, SCM, analytics, case/workflow, and cloud (AWS/Azure); codify API/eventing patterns (IDoc/OData/REST), integration security, and observability requirements; conduct targeted design reviews.
- Direct the data strategy for S/4 including Business Partner CVI conversion, DVM/readiness checks, BW/4HANA upgrades, and analytics enablement (SAC/BOBJ); establish data quality and lineage guardrails via a federated data council.
- Oversee portfolio metrics & OKRs for architecture health, technical debt, risk posture, and value realization; partner with APMO for data‐driven decisions and transparent reporting; publish a quarterly posture dashboard.
- Guide vendor/SI solution architecture evaluations; set technical entry/exit criteria, ensure adherence to patterns, and elevate design issues when risk or complexity warrants.
- Lead legacy rationalization—deprecate, upgrade, or replace systems to reduce technical debt and accelerate modernization; maintain a living rationalization plan.
- Conduct senior stakeholder briefings with agency leadership to communicate architecture tradeoffs, risk mitigations, and mission impacts; maintain decision logs.
- Sponsor Communities of Practice and pattern libraries; curate reusable artifacts and provide office hours to upskill delivery teams without direct line management.
