About the role:

The Area Sales Director for DACH is responsible for Mute’s business development in the region covering Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The position reports to the Global Commercial Director and serves as a key link between the company’s headquarters and local markets.

We are looking for a leader who can combine strategic thinking with operational execution. The person in this role will be responsible for implementing the global sales strategy in the DACH region, managing and further developing the team, building market relationships, and continuing to scale the business in one of Mute’s strategic markets.

Role Objectives:

  • Further growth in sales in the DACH region.
  • Increase the share of project-based sales and strategic clients.
  • Develop relationships with key architects and design-build firms.
  • Professionalize the sales and forecasting processes.
  • Strengthen Mute’s position in the DACH region markets.

Role Responsibilities:

1.Management of the Assigned Region

  • Responsibility for achieving sales targets in the DACH region, ultimately including responsibility for a portion of the region’s P&L.
  • Developing and implementing a regional sales strategy aligned with the company’s global strategy.
  • Monitoring sales results, the sales pipeline, and sales forecasts.

2.Team Management

  • Managing the local sales team (8 people) and a network of sales agents and business partners.
  • Developing the team’s competencies in project-based and consultative sales.
  • Building a culture of accountability for results and pipeline quality, as well as setting and tracking priorities and KPIs.

3.Market Development

  • Developing relationships with architects, design-and-build firms, dealers, end customers, and strategic partners.
  • Actively participating in major projects and negotiations.
  • Supporting the growth of strategic customers in the region.

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of experience in B2B sales, preferably in the sale of technical products or products requiring consultative selling, as well as services supporting product sales.
  • Experience and a proven track record in scaling a business.
  • Experience managing sales teams in the DACH market.
  • Experience in sales through distribution channels, direct sales, and project-based work. Experience working with multiple stakeholders in the purchasing process.
  • Experience in building and developing relationships with architects, designers, design-and-build firms, or similar groups that influence customer decisions.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills—building authority and trust both within the team and across the partner network.
  • Ability to function effectively in an international environment—collaborating smoothly with teams and stakeholders from different countries and cultures.
  • Fluency in German (minimum C1) and a level of English sufficient for day-to-day work in an international environment (minimum B2).
