The Federal Agency for Real Estate Affairs (BImA) is the federal government’s real estate service provider, supporting the federal government’s real estate policy objectives and providing the necessary land and buildings for nearly all federal agencies. Accordingly, we have over 7,000 employees throughout Germany and manage a very broad and diverse real estate portfolio, as well as the ecological use and maintenance of federal natural areas. For these varied and responsible tasks, we are looking for innovative minds who think and act sustainably.

Through the management and continuous optimization of the IT infrastructure, we ensure secure and seamless digital processes in the Information Technology division. As a modern IT unit, we provide advice on all content-related, procedural, and economic issues. We are constantly further developing BImA’s “digital nervous system.”

That’s why we need you! Join us at BImA!

Department 1, “IT Strategy and Cross-Functional Tasks,” establishes the fundamental framework for work within the IT division. We coordinate the strategic direction of the IT division, maintain an overview of the IT landscape, IT projects, and IT business processes, and support all functional areas of the IT division from a quality management perspective as well as with regard to data protection, IT security, and confidentiality.

As an IT Strategy Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic foundations of the Information Technology Division—in particular, the planning, management, and reporting related to IT architecture management.

What will your responsibilities be with us?

  • Developing strategic and planning guidelines (e.g., for products, markets, customers, personnel, or processes)
  • Developing and maintaining overviews and detailed representations of the IT architecture, as well as creating and monitoring guidelines, work instructions, and foundational documents on IT architecture, including automation
  • Technical management of IT projects
  • Development and maintenance of strategic IT goals, as well as coordination of corresponding measures and key performance indicators
  • Participation and involvement in BImA-wide activities related to the planning, management, and alignment of the IT strategy, and representation of the interests of the Information Technology Division regarding the BImA-wide enterprise architecture

These tasks require a strategic, solution-oriented approach and a high level of communication and coordination skills.

We work remotely and flexibly. However, business travel may occasionally be required as part of the position. These business trips are generally planned well in advance to ensure a healthy work-life balance.

What do you bring to the table?

  • Education: A completed academic degree in computer science, business informatics, industrial engineering, or a comparable qualification. Alternatively, eligibility for a career in the higher non-technical civil service.
  • Experience: You have several years of professional experience in the IT field, as well as knowledge and experience in (multi-)project management (e.g., according to PRINCE, SCRUM, PMI, or the V-Model). You also have in-depth knowledge of developing IT strategies and applying IT governance methods. You have in-depth knowledge of defining and structuring IT architectures (e.g., according to TOGAF and Archimate) as well as structuring and implementing IT service management (e.g., according to ITIL, CobIT, or FitSM).
  • Expertise: You have demonstrated knowledge in the design of IT processes, in the areas of IT law and IT compliance, as well as in data protection and information security.
  • Personality: You are characterized by an independent and service-oriented approach to work, as well as a high level of motivation. In addition, you possess strong organizational and communication skills, as well as a high degree of interpersonal skills and resilience.
